In the broadest of definitions, a target is a mark to shoot at. However, targets used for shooting come in all shapes and sizes, and are manufactured from a wide range of materials. They can be non-reactive, or reactive, giving the shooting immediate feedback when hit. Targets can also be specifically designed for use with pistols, rifles, or shotguns. The center of a target is often called the bullseye. – ArmsVault Gun Glossary
